"It is with great sadness that we learned of the ing of Her Royal Highness, Her Majesty the Queen. As the UK’s longest serving monarch, she gave a lifetime of service and devotion and was well known for her love of sport.
“Her Majesty had a long-standing relationship with the sportscotland National Centre Inverclyde having officially opened the centre in 1958 following its purchase with funds raised in memory of her father, King George VI, and returning to mark its 50th anniversary in 2008.
“The thoughts of everyone at sportscotland are with the rest of the Royal Family at this very sad and difficult time.”
