Dundee City Aquatics is a swimming club, based in Dundee. The club has in the region of 200 squad swimming , aged from 5 years to no upper limit. Swimmers come to the club from not only Dundee area but Angus, Perth and Kinross, and Fife. The club has its own swim school, and swim classes provided for children with sensory, learning and physical impairment, in addition to the squad swimmers. There is also an active open water section.

Based primarily at Olympia Leisure Centre, the club has regular access to one of only six 50m pools in Scotland, and also use the excellent school and college pools in the city.

DCA is committed to developing champion athletes, not only in performance in the pool, but in developing each individuals strengths and potential, offering additional opportunity within and outwith the club.

This vacancy has arisen due to the current lead development coaches stepping back from their roles, due to work and family commitments. We are looking to combine these two roles, although we will consider shared responsibility.

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age appropriate training sessions, for young and developing swimmers, with focus on technical excellence, and learning to train, and compete.
  • Create an environment that encourages enthusiasm, commitment, and a positive lifestyle, enabling swimmers to continue their swimming journey and individually achieve their best.
  • Work closely with the head coach, and other coaching staff to ensure a cohesive development pathway for all swimmers.
  • Attend meets as agreed with head coach.
  • Provide constructive to swimmers, to aid them in their journey.
  • Undertake istrative duties as required, including session planning, attendance tracking, and communication with swimmers and parents.
  • There will be opporunity to work with senior and junior swimmers outside the development squads, and undertake professional development within midland district and beyond.

  • Around 10-15 hours per week, as well as attendance at competition a appropriate, fr which expenses will be paid.
  • Appointment will be on a self employed basis. Remuneration will be be paid at a level appropriate to experience, and to be agreed.
  • To be successful in the role, you will need:
  • Coaching qualification equivalent to Scottish Swimming Coaching Qualification.
  • Experience of coaching in a swimming development environment.
  • Have or obtain a PVG through DCA.
  • Have completed and are up to date with Child Welfare and Protection D.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work as a team, and contribute to the clubs overall vision.
  • Enthusiasm, positivity, and commitment to creating a ive and inclusive environment.
